Get To Know The Author!

Get To Know Titans Monria!

If you get to know me, you’ll be more willing to listen!

But the thing is, I want to get to know you, too!

Get To Know Erica!

I’m really not quite sure what to put here. I have read what others have written here and I don’t think the “Biographical Info” or the “About” spaces are for everyone. Not everyone knows how to talk about themselves in great detail. The most I can say about myself in short is that I love to write, read, draw, paint, dance (in my room where no one is watching) and sing. I love kids, but don’t plan on having any of my own. I want to become a foster mom. Did you know that more than 250,000 children in the U.S. enter the foster care system every year? I want to share my heart with those who need it the most, which is also why I am writing in a blog. I want to help anyone I can, and if I can’t be there physically to help, then I will use my words.

Now, why should you listen to me? Get to know me and you’ll find out!

Now, when I do little shorts about myself, like in the first paragraph, those are easy. Let me see how efficiently I can expand. Believe it or not, the topic of “myself” is one of my least favorite topics.

Actions speak louder than words. But I’ll give the “me” discussion a try.

I listen to many different genres of music, rap being the only one I hate; I love to read different genres of books, fantasy being my favorite; I love to writes stories, though I have yet to get any of them done (they’re done in my head!), and I have written some poetry; I love dessert (cookies, cakes, brownies, chocolate cream pie, etc.), preferably with no walnuts because I found out the hard way I am allergic; I love video games, RPGs and strategy games preferably, and the list goes on.

But for writing in a blog, I need to pick only one of my passions to build a reputation. I need to be consistent. But the interesting thing about that is I’m one of those interesting people who is consistently all over the place; I’d like to say I’m a “jack-of-all-traits,” but the reality of the matter is I’m a “jack-of-whatever-traits-I-feel-like-picking-up-at-the-time.” I love a lot of different things and I’m also able to multitask a few of them at once. It comes naturally.

And when I say I am a natural multi-tasker, I can give you an example…

One time while I was in college, I was watching the movie Repo! The Genetic Opera, playing Dragon Age 2, and doing my reading for class all at the same time. Whenever I am in class, I cannot concentrate UNLESS I have something else to do; which is why I’m REALLY good at taking notes. If you look through my school books, they are quite detailed. That and my handwriting is really small so a LOT more fits on the page.

But, for a blog, you can only pick one, which is why I plan on discussing in this are the different skill sets that I can teach to others.

If you want to know more about what I plan to do with Become Empoweredgo to this pageGet To Know Titans Monria! is supposed to be about me, not what I’m going to be promoting (although there is nothing wrong with touching up on it ;)).

Most people are being told these days that they to specialize. Get good grades, go to college, learn a trait, get a good job with benefits. I respectfully disagree with that idea. Because when you specialize, you actually limit yourself. You limit yourself to one thing and you have nothing to fall back on. That is why I studied 3 things while I was in college. I have a major in English and double minors in Art and Classical Studies. I’m also good at math.

Do you know what I can do with that?

I can illustrate my own books; I can illustrate someone else’s books; I can write a book; I mean I could go on. But I have options; I have multiple skills.

And I am happy to share them with you.

I also have family living along the east coast of the United States. I live in Virginia, but I have other family living in North Carolina and I think Pennsylvania. I am 22 years old and I have a 14 year old sister who is now a freshman in high school. My father lived his dream and published his first book Am I Black? about his African American family raised a white child. My mother is the executive assistant to the CEO of a company. And I graduated from college a full semester early in December 2012. YEAH!

Off the top of my head, this is all I’ve got about me. If you want to know more about me, you can go to the other blog that I (painfully) made that is about me. It is called Get To Know Titans Monria!. I post something every chance I get.

Catch you on the flip side!

You can also find me on Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram, and Google +. I also have an About.me page, and a YouTube channel.

  2. Hi, Erica-
Thanks for stopping by my blog, and following…I applaud your goal to foster kids. I always worried that I’d get too attached to let go, especially if they’d been removed from their homes to ensure their safety, then sent back again, because they”need to be

with their mothers.” Sometimes I wonder about DCF.
Like you, my current blog is all over, but lots of bloggers cover all kinds of topics. I plan to keep my everything blog and start another with more focus.
My bet is that you’ll be going places…you’ve got a lot of ambition and drive and I have no doubt you’ll be successful. Check that. You’re already successful.
Keep it up! You’ve got your youth to help you power through.
